About Save a Sole
Save a Sole is a charitable initiative founded by Karamo Jawara in 2020, in Bergen, Norway. This unique charity hosts events across various cities in Norway, focusing on collecting both new and gently used shoes from individuals who no longer need them. These shoes are then shipped to Gambia, where Karamo personally distributes them to those in need, including families, sports teams, orphanages, and women's shelters.
Our Mission
While many view Save a Sole as a charity, Karamo sees it as a means of supporting his Gambian roots. Having traveled to Gambia every other summer during his childhood, Karamo was struck by the stark reality that many people did not have access to proper footwear. This realization left a lasting impression on him, inspiring the creation of Save a Sole.
Impact and Vision
The first trip to Gambia with Save a Sole was a transformative experience for Karamo. The joy and gratitude of those receiving the shoes fueled his determination to continue and expand the initiative. With requests already coming in from several European countries, Karamo envisions making Save a Sole a global movement.
Why Shoes Matter
We all know the confidence boost a good pair of shoes can bring. Now, imagine the impact on someone who has never had a solid, original pair. Shoes can provide not only comfort and protection but also a sense of dignity and hope. Save a Sole aims to deliver this boost, one pair at a time.
Join us in our mission to support and uplift communities, one step at a time. Donate your shoes, host an event, or simply spread the word.
Together, we can make a difference.
